전라남도가 대한민국 친환경농업의 중심지를 넘어 ‘지속가능한 농업국가 모델’로 도약하기 위한 논의에 본격 착수했다.

전남도와 전남친환경농업협회는 8일 도청에서 도·시군 회장단 간담회를 열고, 급변하는 농업환경 속에서 친환경농업의 경쟁력 강화와 새로운 성장전략 마련에 머리를 맞댔다.

이번 간담회에는 김영록 전남도지사와 전남친환경농업협회 도·시군 회장단이 참석해 전남도의 친환경농업 정책 추진 현황 공유, 현장 애로사항 청취, 정부 국정과제 대응 전략, 지속가능 농업의 미래 비전 등을 폭넓게 논의했다.

■ “정부의 유기농 2배 확대… 전남이 전국을 견인해야 한다.”

정부는 최근 국정과제로 ‘친환경·유기농업 면적 2배 확대’를 공식화했으며, 이에 따라 현장에서는 정책적 지원과 제도적 뒷받침에 대한 기대가 높아지고 있다.

전남은 이미 전국 친환경·유기농업 면적의 약 50%를 차지하는 절대 강자다.

이에 전남도는 “정부 정책을 선도적으로 이끌며 친환경농업의 국가 표준을 만드는 역할을 해야 한다”는 데에 회장단과 인식을 같이했다.

이날 회의에서는 탄소중립 농업 전환, 친환경 인증 고도화, 기후위기 대응 품목 전략, 유통·판로 다변화, 청년농 유입 촉진 등 지속가능 농업의 핵심 과제들이 집중 논의됐다.

간담회에서는 최근 급속히 확산되는 ESG 중심 소비 시장이 농업현장에 미치는 구조적 변화도 주요 의제로 다뤄졌다.

저탄소 농산물 선호 증가, 환경보호·사회적 책임을 중시하는 소비 패턴 확대, 투명한 생산·유통체계 요구 강화, 여기에 고령화와 기후변화라는 이중 압박 속에서, 생산 기반 재편과 새로운 판로 전략이 필수적이라는 의견이 제시됐다.

Jeollanam-do has begun full-fledged discussions to leap beyond its position as Korea’s leading organic farming region and establish itself as a national model for sustainable agriculture.
On the 8th, Jeonnam Province and the Jeonnam Organic Farming Association held a joint meeting with city and county chapter heads at the provincial government office, examining how to strengthen competitiveness and craft new strategies for organic agriculture amid rapidly changing agricultural conditions.
Governor Kim Young-rok and the leadership of the Jeonnam Organic Farming Association participated in the meeting, discussing a wide range of topics including the province’s current organic farming policies, on-site challenges, strategies to respond to national agendas, and long-term visions for sustainable agricultural development.

The Korean government recently announced a national agenda to double the acreage of organic and eco-friendly farmland, raising expectations for increased policy support and institutional backing from the field.

combined with challenges stemming from aging farmers and climate change, highlight the urgent need to restructure production systems and develop new market strategies.
